The ubiquitous block-breaking, build-anything phenomenon, Minecraft, has officially crossed the 16 million milestone in copies sold on PC and Mac.
That impressive figure comes from Minecraft's official ticker, which continues to climb with no signs of slowing.
For context, this time in February saw the tally hit 14 million, meaning Mojang's flagship game has sold over 2 million PC copies in approximately 5 months.
However, the expansion onto other platforms have seen sales explode, with Mojang's Patrick Geuder confirming late last month that combined console sales of the PS3 and Xbox 360 have surpassed the PC version.
In addition, Geuder confirmed total Minecraft sales across all platforms were approaching 54 million, which was a staggering increase from the 34 million mark, again, this time in February. That number is certainly higher now.
The long-awaited PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft are due in August and will be priced at $20. Those who own digital or retail versions of the PS3, or Xbox 360 Editions, will be able to upgrade to the new game on their respective platforms for $5.
The PlayStation Vita version will be bundled with the PS3 Edition starting in August for $20, but if you own the PS3 version already, it's totally free when available.
