Xbox One’s next system update, rolling out to Xbox One preview program members right now, introduces numerous improvements to Snap, SmartGlass and achievements functions.

Expected to roll out to all users in October, the update includes a function where double tapping the Xbox button on the controller provides easy access to the friends list, game DVR, clock, achievements, messages and battery. This updated function allows users to more easily toggle between the Snap app and whatever game they are playing. In addition, hitting double tap and the X button on the control while in an active game will record the last 30 seconds of gameplay.

The preview update features DLNA support so users can stream videos to the console via a computer, including MKV files. Users will also be able use their smartphone to control the console, TV, cable or satellite box with the SmartGlass’ Universal Remote Control function.
