Mad Max vs Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

You have probably seen that both games' releases, Mad Max, an open-world action adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world based on the film series of the same name, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the stealth action game that has a solid fan base, made possible by director and writer Hideo Kojima and his crew around Kojima Productions, will fall on the same date, September 1st. This will very likely be a "battle" won by Kojima's gem that so many love.

The question that I have come to now is, how well can Mad Max keep up in the big ocean that Metal Gear Solid will fill as the big shark? Mad Max: Fury Road featuring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy was a solid success in the movie theaters, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 98%, which is astounding, and people I know who watched it were amazed. Vast desolate deserts and the psychotic brutality in the movie is what keeps the people interested because we can only imagine how the world would be after a long period of a apocalyptic incident. Waterworld was very much like that, people in that universe have gone mad and all they do is robbing and stealing other people's belongings as soon as it gets in their peripheral view.

With the new story trailer out for Mad Max, we can see that the unique aesthetics of the Mad Max Australia are coming very true in the game. It says "Story Trailer" but we don't really know what the game is about, it definitely has no real connection to the film, or has it? But what we do know is that we will get a nice open world to wander about, on foot or in cars, some strange-looking weapons hand-crafted from junk and materials that still can be found on every spot on this earth, we will have some love scenes a la The Witcher maybe as well. Who knows for sure? Avalanche Studios has brought some solid Just Cause games to the table, so we can be sure that Mad Max will be comparably to those games keeping up good enough.

But guess what Konami has announced for Metal Gear Solid so far. An open world, a good amount of weapons, and as always a mind-blowing story. So what do you think? How well can a game like Mad Max compete in this battle of the ages? Is it even a battle of that kind? Or is Snake sneaking his way to the top as we know he normally does?
