Busy Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune begins yet another Kickstarter project

It seems like Keiji Inafune is everywhere now. A big surprise was the reveal of the Xbox One exclusive title ReCore, which is designed and developed by the Mega Man creator himself and the team around Armature Studios. The action-adventure will be out in the second quarter of 2016 and published by Microsoft Studios.

Before the surprise at this year's E3, Mighty No. 9 was successfully backed on Kickstarter. The game serves as a spiritual successor of the Mega Man series, deals of a character very similar to Mega Man, and contains many known features of the classic side-scrolling jump and run shooter. Donors were funding the game at a sum of $3,845,170. The game will be released on every current-gen and last-gen console except for the Wii, as well as on the PC, handhelds (3DS, Vita), and Linux and OSX.

Announced at Anime Expo 2015 last weekend, Keiji Inafune started yet another Kickstarter project for a game called RED ASH - The Indelible Legend. "RED ASH is an opportunity to not only fulfill Keiji Inafune's desire to create a game that pays homage to Japanese animation, but also his vision of 'immersing players in a freely explorable anime world.'" The game will feature characters of Mighty No. 9, gameplay is yet not fully described. The art style will stem from Japanese anime, and a team-up with art director Kazushi Ito and director Masahiro Yasuma, will give the game its open world design, as these two gentlemen were involved in the game design of Mega Man Legends, the 3DS game that was cancelled by Capcom which started protests by employees amongst Capcom.

In addition to the game, a second project went live on Kickstarter, called Red Ash Magicicada. This will be the companion anime to RED ASH - The Indelible Legend.

Currently (at the time this was written), the game is at $209,114 of the $800,000 goal, the anime at $48,125 of $150,000 with both projects ending in 28 days. The game will be released on PC as no other stretch goal indicates anything else. Also the game will be released episodically, I through III at the goal, further episodes at certain stretch goals.

JerriKoe - Game on!
