Fable Legends cancelled
It has been announced today that the latest Fable title in the series has been cancelled by publisher Microsoft Studios. In addition we have some even more sad news. Lionhead Studios, may also close down at the same time.
On 'Xbox Wire' Microsoft wrote, "After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville." The shocking turn of events comes as a surprise to every Xbox fan, as the beta for Fable Legends in particular seemed to go so well.
The site goes on to praise the talent and commitment of both studios as a whole by writing "The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the Fable series over the past decade. Press Play imbued the industry with a unique creative spirit behind games like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Kalimba, which both captured passionate fans. These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play." It's unclear what games will be gaining more attention and funding through these proposed closures of two of the most loved Microsoft owned studios.
Microsoft Studios then say they are very much looking forward to bringing new AAA titles such as Remedy's Quantum Break and other titles to the Xbox One.
